The Dive From Clausen’s Pier The story of Carrie Bell (23 years old), a young woman hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, is well-written and executed. The novel opens with Carrie going on a Memorial Day outing along some of her friends from high school including her fiance Mike. Carrie believes Mike is the best man for her. Jamie, her best friend for many years, is starting to become a bit too much for her. When Mike dives from the pier, he breaks his neck and is paralysed. Carrie, who can be quite an ice queen as far storytellers go is having trouble deciding what to do.
