This book was a week and a half after the Alchemist. Although this tale contained the same magical magic as The Sorcerer’s, the spiritual elements were much more apparent due to the actual journey. While it’s nonfiction, his stories feel almost magical. Coelho Part of the Order of the RAM initiation, he participated in the pilgrimage to search for his sword. He encounters and battles his personal evil one as a pet dog. He also experiences supernatural beings and strange guides. Finally, he is taught a series of exercises to deepen his spirit. He sees his death in one of the exercises. He has the ability to experience the occult and miracles as well as physical as well spiritual examinations.

It is a stunning sight book, albeit quite intense. You can read it to gain spiritual understanding, and be prepared to (slightly!) suspend your original idea. I have walked to Santiago twice. Once, when I was west of Spain’s north rate and once near Porto on the Portuguese coast. I found myself wishing that I had checked out the area.
